At any moment we can choose to pause and take a step back. We really can. We can slow down and reflect on how we want to live and then start aligning our actions accordingly. We can stop mindlessly pushing harder and harder. We can stop endlessly striving toward some mythical future destination and enjoy the journey.

I saw something on LinkedIn recently that said, “Working with smart people is great. Working with kind and humble people is next-level amazing.” I would say that if you work with smart, kind, and humble people, you have something special that should not be taken for granted.

Authenticity matters. People follow leaders who are real and transparent. When you hide your true self to please others, you lose trust. Stand firm in your core values and lead with honesty, even when it feels hard. Real respect grows when you choose integrity over temporary praise.

Having an end-of-day ritual that signifies the transition from work to personal life is incredibly beneficial, especially for those who work from home. At the end of each day, I take a few deep breaths and then jot down unfinished tasks, loose thoughts, or action items yet to be completed. My brain is better able to relax and be in the moment when I do this consistently, and it also gives me a head start on tomorrow.

For my subscribers who live in Wisconsin, you likely heard about or experienced first hand the devastation that tornadoes recently caused in the Menasha area. My heart goes out to all affected. It is a stark reminder that many of the the things we get worked up over on a given day are mere inconveniences. Losing your home or business is a tragedy.
