Winter Arc

I do not know who created or popularized it, but have you heard of the Winter Arc challenge? Instead of becoming sluggish all fall and waiting to come up with New Year’s resolutions, it flips the script a bit and encourages participants to establish goals, discipline, and new habits during the final quarter of 2026 and carry them into the New Year. I would challenge you to give this some thought and get a jump on 2027.

A (Gentle) Kick in the A**

I met with a former colleague recently and offered him what I considered to be some kind but very direct advice. In short, I told him overthinking, perfectionism, and hesitation were his biggest enemies and were also just excuses. I got an email from him the next day that said nothing but, “Thanks for the kick in the a** Terry.” Sometimes we all need one, right?

Get to the Point Already

Leading with the core message, whether in a 1:1 conversation, a team meeting, or an email, respects everyone’s time. Adding too many words leaves your audience saying to themselves…"blah blah blah” and they end up tuning out the actual message. Stop rambling. Be brief, be kind, be direct, and get to the point already.

Endurance

In my prior life, I was a track and cross country coach. I always coached and encouraged athletes to run smart and run tough. We all have limited amounts of energy during any given “race,” work day, or week. The key is using it wisely, at the right time, and on the right things.

Monday Mornings

Monday mornings don’t have to be like a monster under your bed. They are really just another day that you can shape and mold any way you wish. And remember, you set the tone for the whole team and get to choose the “playlist.” Monday Monday

Quote of the Week

"You are in danger of living a life so comfortable and soft that you will die without ever realizing your true potential.”

~ David Goggins

Book of the Week

Seeking Authenticity is a book that has really made me think and reflect over the years. I pick it up every now and then and read a section when I want something short but meaningful. If you need a change in perspective, grab a copy.

That’s it for this week!

Drop me an email and let me know what you thought or just to say hello.
